My first encounter with Mountain Gorillas.

In Uganda the mountain Gorillas are located in the south-western region of the country, the area is well known for its thick rainforests and divers fruits and vegetation that make it adaptable for the gorillas to grow and procreate. The drive from Uganda’s national airport is about 9 hours to reach the home of the mountain gorillas which is located in Bwindi impenetrable national park, through the hills and mountains with beautiful landscape and sceneries.

I was luckily guided by soul treat safaris  that gave me an amazing experience and perfect trip in Uganda but the most memorable experience was the hours I spent with the mountain Gorillas. We left the our lodge at 7:00 in the morning with a parked lunch and took a 15 minutes drive to where we met the trained mountain gorilla guides, we were welcomed by the locals who gave us a cultural dance entertainment and sung folk songs cheering with excitement to see us.

We all sat together for a group facilitation  and were divided in smaller groups of five to visit the different gorilla families, we were all assigned to different packs each with one Alfa male silver back and there family that they travel with.  The guide took us in for a long walk deep in the rainforest to track one of the families and we saw beautiful vegetations and some of the big plantations of tea and coffee grown by the locals of the area called the bakiga

As we approached the mountain gorillas we climbed a few big trees, crawling up the steep hills experiencing the wild like fellow primates and we had to move calmly so we don’t scary the gorillas, after one hour of tracking them we finally met the pack of gorillas. They were 15 members of the family with two infants and the silver back taking charge of them , we were allowed to spend one and half hour with the family as we got to see them climb and swing from tree to tree. The ate together and were not afraid of us because some of them with time moved closer to as allowing us to get better pictures and an up forward experience with them. It was a very beautiful first encounter that I didn’t want to end but unfortunately time cut us short but I would love to go back and spend more time with them in their peaceful and calming habitat. The smell of nature and only hearing water move at a distance gives inner peace and releases a lot of stress from the usual crazy industrial environment.

So I really encourage everyone from whatever country to get time away from the busy world and visit Bwindi Impenetrable national park in Uganda with the recommendation of  and visit the mountain gorillas in their beautiful habitat.
